Most importantly this book holds the Parish registers for Baptisms, Marriages and Burials for the years 1603- 1700. However this book also has a great deal of historical and ecclesiastical information about Whitkirk Parish that makes the book far more interesting than a simple Parish register.

Other chapters in the book give a brief historical sketch of the parish, starting at the Doomsday Book. It lists the names of the parishes Vicars, describes the Rectory, Vicarage, Church, Chapel, Monuments and benefactions. It has a whole chapter on the parishes five Manorial Courts and their activities as well as the Church Warden's Accounts for 1653-4 and 1687-8. A great way to find your ancestors and discover how the world they lived in worked.
